So, Donna has supporters, friends, and fans anxiously following her journey. But in this age of technology, we are all content to read our online newspapers and blogs, viewing images and reading inspiring stories that make us feel a part of the lives of others. While some have been lucky enough to offer her shelter, much like someone on the sidelines offering a cool cup of Gatorade to Ben Roethlisberger, the rest of us are merely sitting in front of our computer screens shouting, "Go, Donna!!!"

Remember Forrest Gump? Remember his inspirational cross-country run that spurned others to join his courageous journey? Well, c'mon, people! I see Donna, the sun setting behind her on the horizon, dozens of followers on horseback behind her - Donna's Cavalry. And, if you don't have a horse, then get on your Schwinn and get out there.

Forrest "just felt like running." I imagine Donna, although she has a goal, "just felt like riding." Tonto and Jay are like Peas and Carrots again. Life is like a box of silk butterflies. Donna is as Donna does.

Get That Girl A Helmet!

The Donna tracker is currently down, although I assume that she and the boys survived last night's storms and are still on the way to Wildwood.

In the meantime, while Donna's cowboy hat is impressive, I am concerned that for such a long journey she needs a helmet.

The Houghston Health Alert reports the following facts and tips:

Horseback riding carries a higher injury rate than motorcycle riding. And we all know what happens when you don't wear a helmet on a motorcycle.

Injuries commonly occur in the upper extremities, such as the wrist, elbow, and shoulder. Donna already has a bum shoulder. She doesn't need a head injury to boot.

Deaths resulting from horseback riding injuries are not very common. Most deaths are a result of a traumatic injury to the head. Just saying.

Hard shell helmets should be worn at all times when you are mounted on the horse. The helmet must always be securely fastened and should be replaced after any significant impact.

Amateur riders should not attempt jumps or daredevil stunts.

So, for those helping Donna along the way, I think a helmet would be a nice addition to room, board, and hay.

This Time, She'll Get it Right

Don't criticize Donna for refusing jobs and being hell-bent on getting to Texas. She's had a rough enough time as it is. After she was fired from a ranch in Arcadia, she got a job at a company making silk butterflies.

But she was fired from that job too because, I quote, "They said I wasn't making them right."

I couldn't understand why this was, so I called this butterfly plant. They sent me the following pictures, one of a properly constructed silk butterfly, another of a "butterfly" made by Donna.

"We just couldn't keep her on," said the manager.

Okay. So last word, Donna was in Bushnell nursing a cough and sore shoulder. Today, she is back on the road and headed for Wildwood. The forecast calls for rain tomorrow (Thursday), but Donna, Jay, and Tonto will be staying on a local family's property.

However, what's the rush? By my calculations, Donna will be passing through Sumterville. What can she do there? Well, for one, she can visit with fans of Matt Wilde to demand he come to Sumterville to perform. Or, she can check the latest Webster Cattle Prices and see if they might give her some money for Tonto. She could use the money to buy some new clothes:

But considering Wildwood will be dropping to a chilly 30 degrees on Friday, she may want to opt for the hoodie.
