In the meantime, while Donna's cowboy hat is impressive, I am concerned that for such a long journey she needs a helmet.
The Houghston Health Alert reports the following facts and tips:
- Horseback riding carries a higher injury rate than motorcycle riding. And we all know what happens when you don't wear a helmet on a motorcycle.
- Injuries commonly occur in the upper extremities, such as the wrist, elbow, and shoulder. Donna already has a bum shoulder. She doesn't need a head injury to boot.
- Deaths resulting from horseback riding injuries are not very common. Most deaths are a result of a traumatic injury to the head. Just saying.
- Hard shell helmets should be worn at all times when you are mounted on the horse. The helmet must always be securely fastened and should be replaced after any significant impact.
- Amateur riders should not attempt jumps or daredevil stunts.
So, for those helping Donna along the way, I think a helmet would be a nice addition to room, board, and hay.
Tell Donna, I live in Three Rivers Texas. Where is she looking to settle? Not much out her but plenty of graze for her horses.
ReplyDeleteGood Luck,
Will follow her progress.
